Total War™: ROME II Relaunching for macOS May 29th

DATE:

Thursday May 8th, 2025

Feral Interactive can today reveal that Total War: ROME II will relaunch for macOS on May 29th. Updated to run natively on modern Mac hardware, this new version of Creative Assembly’s grand strategy masterpiece will be available as a free upgrade to all previous owners of Total War: ROME II on Steam and the Mac App Store.

Players will lead one of 28 playable factions, drawn from the great Roman houses and other cultures including the Parthians, Greeks and Gauls, to recreate the Roman Empire in all its glory — or to attempt its destruction. The richly detailed campaign map is a strategic playground where players seek to subjugate rivals through decisive military, economic, and diplomatic action. On the battle map, players take the role of great generals in massive real-time engagements: as thousands of troops clash, the terrain, weather and martial traditions of opposing armies combine to challenge their tactical skills.

Total War: ROME II returns to macOS as the Emperor Edition, complete with all free updates, including the Imperator Augustus campaign. A further five Campaign and five Culture Packs will be available to buy from launch; among these paid DLC are the Desert Kingdoms Culture Pack, and Empire Divided and Rise of the Republic Campaign Packs, all of which come to macOS for the very first time.

Total War: ROME II — Emperor Edition returns to sale for macOS on May 29th via Steam, with the Mac App Store release shortly thereafter. Previous owners of the game on either storefront will be able to upgrade at no extra charge on release day.
